The first four were easy: Lord of the Rings, Jane Eyre, Fahrenheit 451, and Brothers Karamazov. I started to wonder about the fifth when I realized I left off the Bible. Of course that was my first choice all along...Whoops! It's one of those book that I felt went over my head (I've had similar impressions from Flannery O'Connor's writings) but was worth rereading. I can't remember it too clearly, so maybe it's time for another re-read! I liked it, Joseph R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13747631029262485742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005065286385049850.post-90932327818194272312018-06-05T10:01:58.729-05:002018-06-05T10:01:58.729-05:00Somehow this didn't come to my email ... sorry...Somehow this didn't come to my email ... sorry I missed responding for so long. I've never seen The Shawshank Redemption because my kids have always told me I wouldn't like it. Possibly because of all that Shawshank! :-D

Did you like Brideshead Revisited? Like you, I found the first half to two-thirds a tough slog, but it was definitely worth it. Someone once said about "The Shawshank Redemption" that you have to go through a lot of Shawshank before you get to the redemption. That applies here.

On Brideshead Joseph R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13747631029262485742noreply@blogger.com
