My wife and I listened to this on a road trip while the children were sleeping. We laughed, we cried, we thank you very much! Certainly, "the best of times."
ReplyDeleteOur pleasure! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou guys have the knack of making me want to watch something that I am not even remotely interested in (though after hearing you three, I am now!).
ReplyDeleteAnd Heather? She needs to be a part of this more regularly! Talk about a treat! I'm going to have to check out her podcast too (I've tried it before, but then dropped it after I got pod-overloaded...going to have to revisit it!)
Hi Sarah! Thanks a million. This one was a hoot.
ReplyDeleteIt really was fun, wasn't it? And Sarah, you NEED to watch this movie! NEED TO!
ReplyDeleteI'm a listener of CraftLit & Forgotten Classics, aka Terri H., and on Ravelry Iskierka. I came over for the irresistible combo of Julie and Heather... LOVE this episode so much I listened to it twice! STII has been a favorite movie since I saw it in the theater during college. (yeah, I'm that old... in fact, I'm so old that Mom tells me I got angry when original Trek got moved from prime time to past my bedtime for its third season. But at least I'm not old enough to remember that myself.)
ReplyDeleteI want to comment on everything you guys discussed! *sigh* I might have to listen to Tale of Two Cities on CraftLit. (or Just the Books, wink wink nudge nudge?) I listened to the Librivox rendition a few years ago, but got lost to the point where I didn't cry at the end because I just hadn't engaged with the characters enough, I think.
Anyway, you brought out so much I hadn't thought of before--in many cases wouldn't have known before. Like the Talmudic nature of the discussions between Kirk, Spock, & McCoy. Wow!!
I dunno. I might have to listen a third time. :)
p.s. Julie--it's "round perdition's flames"! :-D
ReplyDeletep.p.s. I don't mean to ignore Scott! I can tell you're a trufan, sir!
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks, Terri. Live Long and Prosper!
ReplyDeleteRound perdition's flames ... I have that committed to memory now for future moments of swearing vengeance. :-D
ReplyDeleteWow, an episode worth listening to TWICE! We've achieved real fame now, I feel. I also saw Wrath of Khan in the theater, probably twice! It's funny to think back on how exciting it was to see the "real" Star Trek gang in a good movie.
Thank you so much Terri for coming by and commenting! It's so nice to know the episodes are worth listening to once, much less more than that. And definitely listen to Heather's A Tale of Two Cities. :-)
Thanks to this podcast I decided to borrow "Space Seed" and ST2:WOK from the library and watch them again with my kids, back-to-back. Great stuff, and now I'll re-listen to the podcast with them, and have a big discussion after. Thanks for making that possible.
ReplyDeletefredosphere, thanks very much! May Khan spit his last breath at thee and thine children.
